As they stood there waiting for the basketball team to run out, she overheard Dustin talking to Mike about Suzie, who she's talked to before, and she's a real sweetheart, smart too.

"Look, I'm not saying my girlfriend is better than yours, its just that Suzie's like- a certified genius"

Mike looks at his Dustin as if Dustin had insulted his mom Karen.

"You do know El saved the world twice, right?" Mike retorted. Honestly i think El and Suzie are just as good as each other, plus, Suzie helped save the world.

Vanessa never understood pep rally's, to her they were always so cringe and over the top, honestly, she'd never really been a person for sports. But she wanted to support Lucas. There were a bunch of people that were squishing squishing into nothing on the stands. It's not hard to ease up with space.
Just as she was about to leave, Jason came out running through the banner with the rest of the boys. He was always distasteful looking to her. He looked like a clingy person too. The marching band drums play as Jason smiled at the crowd of high schoolers, which to Vanessa, made her frown. It was like he puts on a front to make himself look nice.

"Good morning Hawkin's High!" He yelled. "First off, I'd like to thank each and every one of you, without your support... we wouldn't be here"

Vanessa just rolled her eyes. He went on about how people who died in the "mall fire" didn't die for them to lose to a "shit school". Which is a bit heartless to say. The first game was tonight, which had Mike and Dustin look at each other worried. The same night was Eddie's last campaign, something they really could not miss. A once in a lifetime opportunity. Vanessa also looked at them worried.

"You could always ask Eddie to move the date for the campaign" she suggested, with them look at her like she was the stupidest person on the planet in return.

"Hell no, he won't let us are you nuts? We'll just ask Lucas to tell his coach to move the game's date" Dustin said. Vanessa just rolled her eyes. As much as the boys LOVE D and D, and NEED to do this campaign, they need to be there for Lucas.

"You guys sound so arrogant. Your best friend is playing a tournament that could possibly be a life changing opportunity" she said. They looked at her and then each other.

"But this is a really, really important campaign, we can't afford to miss it!" Mike exclaimed. Both the boys run down the stands and off to find Lucas, with Max left behind.

"You okay?" Vanessa asked Max, looking at Max's cold emotionless face. She just looked at her and walked away, leaving Vanessa with no answer. Vanessa then walked away with Robin, who looked like a tomato.

"You okay Robin?" She asked, poking her a little.

"What? Oh- yeah, yeah I'm fine" she said, staring off at Vicky who's walking away. But Vanessa knows exactly where she's looking. Vanessa just left Robin to it, nothing to see there. Vanessa just went off to her first class, just observing what foreigners would call "American High School Culture". The lockers, the clothes, sports culture, the bullying especially. It was something you could probably call unique.

Vanessa's English class finally ended with the exam grades. C- not too bad but it could've been better, though the grade is just because the lack of motivation. She scrunches up the paper and puts it in her bag, knowing her mum would want to see, even if it were anything below a C. She headed out to the cafeteria to meet with Mike and Dustin to ask them if they managed to get Lucas to change the date of the game, but they too were standing in one place, staring at the Hellfire Club table.
